I trust that all of you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving, recognizing the many gifts the Lord has given to you.
Thanks to all of you who were present for the Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences last Monday and Tuesday. We had very few parents who did not come for their scheduled appointments. Teachers will be contacting you if you did not come to the conference.
Tomorrow morning at 8:00 Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese will be administering the entrance exam. Students are asked to bring 2 #2 pencils and the $25 fee. If you have a child in the eighth grade, I encourage you to have your child take the entrance exam at the Catholic high school of your choice.
Tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 the second Family Mass of this school year will be celebrated. Students in grades 4 and 5 will be actively ministering at this Mass as readers and gift bearers. A children's choir compromised of students grades 3-8 will be leading the congregation in song. After the Mass a social will be held in the school hall.
This Sunday begins the season of Advent, a time of waiting for the birth of our Savior. I encourage you to have an Advent wreath in your home and gather around it daily for prayer. This is one way you can prepare your hearts for the coming of Jesus.
Next Friday we have an all-school Mass at 8:15. I encourage you to come and join us in prayer at this Mass during the season of Advent.
On Tuesday all of the students and staff will be transported to the Stahl Theater at St. Patrick High School for "Mrs. Claus' Holiday Musical." This performance is a generous gift from Grace's Proud Parents.
The monthly meeting of Grace's Proud Parents will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 in Room 104. Come and share your ideas for the annual Breakfast with Santa. You received flyers asking for ticket requests, donations, and volunteers. Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible.
You have recently received a request for donations to the Teacher's Christmas Fund. Please return your donation in the envelope that was provided. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.
The Student Council is selling candy canes to raise money for the upcoming events. If you wish to place an order, please return the order form and money before Wednesday, December 12. Candy canes will be distributed on Friday, December 14.
The Women's Center for Greater Chicago is sponsoring a baby food drive on December 8 and December 15. Students may bring donated baby food either next week or the week of December 10. The donated baby food will help support the women who gave birth to their babies rather than having an abortion. Over 1500 babies now enjoy the gift of life because the mothers refused to have an abortion. I ask that you be generous.
During Advent we should be thinking about three comings to celebrate at Christmas-Christ's coming 200 years ago, His coming into our lives now, and His final coming in glory. Because of Jesus then, now and forever we are saved!
Sunday's Gospel is from the Gospel of Luke. It reminds us that we dare not put off reforming our lives. The last days may come at any time.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND PRAY TO THE ONE WHO LIGHTS OUR WAY-JESUS
