October 5, 2018
Monday is Columbus Day. There will be no classes for the students. Classes will resume on Tuesday morning.
Because of the shorter week next week, I will include school news for the next two weeks in this letter. There will be no parent letter on Friday, October 12.
The fall fund raiser has ended. Thanks to all who supported it by getting orders from the brochure and/or selling candy bars. I will share with you the profit of this fund raiser at a later time.
With today’s letter you are receiving a form requesting times to meet with your children’s teachers for the Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences to be held on Monday, Nov. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 20. I encourage you to return the form as soon as possible since conferences are scheduled as the forms are received. All forms must be returned by October 17.
The “Students of the Month” for October have been selected. These students are recognized for their respect, effort and overall Christ-like behavior. Congratulations to: Athena Garcia, Alex Luna-Torres, Alexa Solis, Gabriel Hazel, Luka Bermeo, Sophia Martinez, Lisandra Agualema, Ryan Munoz, Samantha Martinez, Iain Oquendo, Vianie Alicea, Neil Bermeo, and Vivian Diaz.
The tuition payment for October is due on Monday, October 15. Please pay promptly. The Archdiocese requires that we list four exclusion days on the calendar for delinquent tuition. You will notice that there is an exclusion day on Monday, October 22. Please have your tuition current so that your children do not have to be excluded from class.
As a reminder, the General Service Fee and Noon Supervision Fee must be paid by December. Please make a plan so that these fees are paid by December.
There will be a Book Fair during the week of October 15. Scholastic Books sends a great variety of books for different ages. Please come and purchase some books for your children. Research has proven that the more time students spend in reading, the better students they are.
Grace’s Proud Parents is sponsoring the annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27, from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM. Each family is asked to donate a bag of candy which will be used to fill the goody bags given to the children. Grace’s Proud Parents is looking for volunteers to help with the event on Saturday, Oct. 27th and to help decorate on Friday evening, Oct. 26th. Grace’s Proud Parents is also asking families to donate food items for this event. See the flyer.
We want your involvement in the school. Each week students from preschool through eighth grade enjoy time in our school library on Tuesday or Thursday. We are in need of volunteers in the library. If you have had your Virtus training and would be able to give some time to volunteer, please call the school office.
In Sunday’s Gospel, some parents present their children for Jesus’ blessing. The disciples, however, try to get rid of them because Jesus is tired. Instead Jesus welcomes the children and blesses them. Parents like the parents in the Gospel story who present their children for Jesus’ blessing and teaching have the best chance of a happy family life.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY, BRINGING YOUR CHILDREN FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS.
